Grunge Playlist (2022)

The project of rebranding Spotify’s Grunge playlist took place during a workshop at the design studio Vasava, located in the city of Barcelona, a training experience included in Barreira’s Master in graphic design. For two intense and creative days we worked with the aim of completely transforming the visual aspect of the playlist.
To begin with, we were given some guidelines that helped define our creative path. One of the main restrictions was the use of only four colors, but we turned this challenge into an opportunity to create eye-catching and innovative combinations.

The key element of our rebranding was the use of an aesthetic reminiscent of grunge, a musical genre known for its rebellious energy and disruptive attitude. To create this atmosphere, we incorporated simulated rips into the graphics, creating a sense of dynamism and disruption. This visual element became the core of our concept, bringing a touch of anarchy and nonconformity to the playlist. In addition, we decided to use handwritten typography to emphasize the authentic and personal essence of the grunge genre.
